Individuation: Talent Resistance. Alex Agostini

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Back at school we were extremely anxious for getting the very best grades, to do well, where we were sitting amongst other just to compete trying to define our future. Today, I would like to urge and stress out that there were artists among us that simply didn’t understand math, entrepreneurs that simply don’t care about history or English literature and in fact back at school there is now also a musician whose chemistry marks won’t matter.

For me it feels like some of those teachers simply to tried to teach a fish how to ride a bike, telling him that he should be feeling ashamed for not being able to do so. Back a few weeks ago, while meeting with some of my old class-mates, it simply became clear that those folks that had great marks, rather ended up in a decent and ordinary job, didn’t achieve anything remarkable: just enough to live, too much to die and a few hobbies in between.

What does really bother me personally, that teachers were trying to take away student’s self-confidence and dignity, rather than telling them that it is OK, since it’s just one of many exams they would have to pass: it’ clear that they are cut out for much bigger things in life, no matter what they (we) score, it’s definitely not the right thing to do to judge them, but to let those find their own way, let them conquer the world by themselves, because one exam or low-mark won’t take away their dreams or their talent.

Most of the teachers would predict that being an lawyer, engineer or doctor is the only way to be accepted on this planet and to just ensure such Doctor or Magistra title would have been added onto their door-signs, name-cards, bank cards and you name it. Certainly exams are important, but they are not everything we got in life, however, exams simply don’t define yourself or your personality or the talent you may have, certainly one exam wont define your whole future, although this is what teachers predict the whole entire time.

There is definitely so much potential that we all got right inside of us, something that drives us to succeed, it’s this inner feeling that let us get out of bed with a purpose and to go to bed with a dream.

In this occasion, I wish you all the best for 2020 and do, if you got the chance, make the very best out of the last upcoming days of 2019, there are still a few days left, where we can simply make the best out of those.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.
